"My name is Yazen Abdin and I am a 21 year old student at UCF.  Prior to becoming a trainer at FFC, I used to play football at Olympia High School.  After injuries that wiped out hopes of playing Division 1 Football, I was left as a washed-up, overweight offensive lineman.  It was almost 3 years ago that I started working out at Florida Fitness Center.  With the help and encouragement of the fitness staff at Florida Fitness Center, and the use of the advanced, state-of-the-art VO2 technology, I was able to drop my weight from 350lbs to 215lbs.  Unbelievable?   You better believe it. I am living proof that the techniques and procedures used at the facility actually work.  As a reward for my incredible accomplishment and because I was one of the many success stories, I was offered a job at the facility.  I worked hard and earned my certification as a trainer. I am now pursuing one of my passions by helping others achieve their weight loss goals as a proud member of the Florida Fitness Center team."

james "I’m turning 40 in a couple months. To some that’s ancient to others I’m just a spring chicken. Regardless of your vantage point, 40 is definitely not 19. When I was 19 I weighed 175lbs, had an incredible six pack, and was competing in Martial Art tournaments. It wasn’t until a few years later I realized that high kicks wasn’t going to provide me with the financial security we all strive to achieve so I got caught up in the Corporate American Game. To make a long story short 20 years later I was weighing in at 220 lbs and was starting to show signs of hypertension.  

I happened out of a whim to stop by the SWAT Family Fitness that had recently opened. I told the instructor about my Martial Arts experience and how it had once been a passion of mine but because of life decisions I had made, it was a “thing of the past”. Needless to say my pessimistic attitude wasn’t acceptable. His attitude was that it is never too late in life to take control of your well being and gain back your optimism about your physical self. I’m down from 220lbs to 183lbs. I’m seeing nearly 90% of my old Martial Arts “flexibility” coming back, my blood pressure has returned to a normal state and “2” of my “6” – “6 packs” have returned :). The staff is a joy to be around. There is a positive energy in his facility that stems not only from the staff but all the patrons as well. This energy just helps put you to ease the moment you arrive, regardless of how “bad” your day was. This type of atmosphere just can’t be achieved in today’s larger commercial gyms. I’d like to end by saying I’ve stopped telling myself that eventually I will get back in shape and just did it. Life is too short to stop taking care of your self."

"About 6 months after I turned 40 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I immediately started a 6-month regimen of chemo, followed by surgery and radiation. It took a toll on me both mentally and physically. I was depressed about my weight gain (20 pounds) and how I looked with no hair and at that time I had no self-esteem left. After about a year I joined a gym and started exercising again and that’s when I met my trainer

I worked with him twice a week with a partner for about 6 months before I decided to have one-on-one sessions with him. He has always kept me motivated and pushed me harder than I could push myself and the attention to form has yielded results that are quite impressive. My strength has increased significantly and I am working out with weight that I never thought would be possible. My trainer has helped me tone and sculpt my body back into shape and I look and feel awesome. He has consistently provided me with fitness training that is challenging, safe and effective. He has also taught me that nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, as well as exercise, are crucial to maintaining optimal health and vitality.

I am empowered by my newfound strength in more ways than one. I enjoy every minute at the gym now and have been taking new classes to find new ways to enrich my workouts. I can’t thank my trainer enough for helping me realize my goals and giving me back my self-confidence."
